According to Cisco, to meet customer needs, more than 3,500 Cisco Certified Internetwork Experts will need to be certified this year.  IDC, a global provider of market intelligence for the information technology industry, predicts a shortage of 900,000 network professionals in 2008.

Interconnecting Cisco® Network Devices Part 1 (ICND1)

This course focuses on providing the skills and knowledge necessary to install, operate, and troubleshoot a small branch office Enterprise network, including configuring a switch, a router, and connecting to a WAN and implementing network security.

Interconnecting Cisco® Network Devices Part 2 (ICND2)

This course focuses on skills and knowledge necessary to install, operate, and troubleshoot a small to medium-size branch office Enterprise network, including configuring several switches and routers, connecting to a WAN and implementing network security.

CCNA Certification Changes

The Cisco® CCNA Network Associate certification validates the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks, including implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a WAN.

Cisco® has updated the certification tests to include more networking topics and focus on performance-based skills.

The required exams for CCNA are either ICND1 640-822 and ICND2 640-816 or the CCNA 640-802 composite exam. To prepare for these exams the following courses are recommended:
